Asus has officially showed its DR-900 e-reader at the CeBIT 2010 convention in Hanover, Germany. Yes, it’s the same DR-950 e-reader that was spotted in January this year. With a 9-inch ePaper display from SiPix, the new DR-900 comes with Wi-Fi and an optional 3G connectivity. The price and availability of the DR-900 e-reader hasn’t been announced by Asus yet.New Asus DR-900 has a 9-inch ePaper SiPix display which is monochrome (16-grey shades) and supports 1024×768 pixel resolution in 150ppi. Besides that, it has a touchscreen with text input option and also supports handwriting recognition. The DR-900, which is merely 9 mm thick, comes with built-in 4GB internal storage and supports more storage through the SD card slot. ASUS DR-900 e-reader supports PDF, TXT, Audible, MP3, unprotected ePub, HTML, JPEG, GIF, PNG and BMP file formats. Its battery life is one of the crucial features. The DR-900 offers battery life of two weeks with Wi-Fi disabled and up to four days with Wi-Fi enabled. That, infact, is quite similar to the battery life offered by Amazon’s Kindle DX.Specifications:Display: 9-inch SiPix electronic paper display with 1024 x 768 resolution at 150ppi, 16-grey scale.Size: 222 x 161 x 9mmStorage: 4GB internal with SD Card slotBattery life: Up to 4 days with Wi-Fi enabled; up to two weeks with Wi-Fi disabledConnectivity: 802.11g and/or optional 3.5G HSDPAConnections: microUSB 2.0, 3.5mm stereo audio jack, built-in stereo speakers.Supported formats: PDF, TXT, Audible (formats 4, Audible Enhanced (AAX)), MP3, unprotected ePub; HTML, JPEG, GIF, PNG, BMPAccessories: Power adapter, USB 2.0 cable, battery, book coverWeight: 370gCharge Time: Fully charges in approximately 3.5 hours and supports charging from your computer via the included USB 2.0 cable.Source: techtree.com
